Abstract | H I observations of three isolated galaxies have been performed to derive their global H I-properties. Their relative H I-masses and their hydrogen mass-to-luminosity ratio (MH I/LB) are higher than expected for their morphological type. In the case of NGC 5832 the H I-mass is about three times larger than expected from 'standard' samples. There is evidence for the H I distribution to extend beyond the optical image in the cases of NGC 5301 and NGC 5832 but not for NGC 2712. As the galaxies studied have not yet had an encounter with other galaxies the observed warp in NGC 5301 requires such phenomena to be (at least in some galaxies) self-excited. |
