Abstract | Photographic and spectroscopic data of the galaxy group Klemola 11, are presented. The central galaxy is shown to be an S0 which exhibits mild emission at Hα and [S II] and has a well developed dust lane. The overall spectral type indicates ongoing star formation and the galaxy has an estimated M_v_ = - 21.6. The galaxy has a large semi-circular arm wrapped to form an incomplete ring, and evidence for its formation via collision and merger or some internal mechanism are discussed. There is evidence in the image of a slight ripple and it is argued that the material, gas and dust have been provided by a cannibalistic merger with a dwarf member of the group. |
