| Abstract | Summary. Eighteen possible galaxies are identified within 2?5 of the galactic plane in a region in Puppis at 1=2450 and b =00. These lie in the galactic plane and slightly to the north of it. None were found to the south, indicating that the absorption plane lies below galactic latitude zero. A rough estimate of the maximum photo- graphic absorption in the direction of the galaxies is 4 .5. This leads to an approximate upper limit to R = Av/ < 6.5.
