Abstract | This paper contains the description of 21-cm line observations of 15 galaxies in the Virgo Cluster, carried out with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (WSRT). The observations include the pairs NGC 4216/4222 and NGC 4294/4299. The projected distances to M87 of the observed galaxies range from 1.0 to 5.7 degrees. The channel maps (monochromatic brightness distributions), the 21-cm continuum map, the global profile, the total hydrogen map, the velocity field, and the position-velocity map along the galaxy's major axis for each of the observed galaxies are presented. For each galaxy the total HI flux and an accurate systemic velocity have been calculated. Also, the isophotal HI diameter at the surface density level of 1.0 M_sun_ pc^-2^, and the maximum rotation velocity (obtained from the rotation curve) are presented. The results show that for several galaxies located in the core of the Virgo Cluster the HI distributions are clearly different from those of the galaxies at the periphery of the cluster and in the field. |
