Abstract | This paper presents the results of one-dimensional HI observations of 12 spiral galaxies in a low galaxy-density environment, (<>) made with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope. The results have been collected in the form of an atlas, containing for each galaxy a position-velocity diagram, the HI distribution projected upon the resolution axis of the observation, the HI global profile, and the distribution of the HI surface density. Most of the galaxies show a more or less symmetrical HI distribution, which, at the level of 1.0 M_sun_ pc^-2^, extends beyond the optical image. The distribution of the gas in UGC 7941 is limited to its optical dimensions; in addition the HI in this galaxy seems to be more asymmetrically distributed than in the average field galaxy. The results for the galaxy NGC 2654 indicate a very extended distribution of the HI gas, with a diameter of 12 arcmin (at the level of 0.3 M_sun_ pc^-2^, while its optical dimensions are 4.3 by 0.9 arcmin. |
