Abstract | In order to shed some light on the possibility of a connection between the Pisces-Perseus supercluster and the A 569 cluster through the zone of avoidance of the Milky Way, H I and optical observations of galaxies have been carried out in this region. Forty-two redshifts have been measured, among which 21 for the first time in the possible connection zone. The study of the H I contents of the galaxies detected in the 21-cm line shows they are perfectly normal; as a by-product of this study, the UGC magnitudes are found to be too high by more than one magnitude for m_UGC_>=17. The analysis of all the redshifts available in the region indicates that the connection between the Perseus-Pisces supercluster and the A 569 cloud through the cluster 3C 129 is very likely. The overall dimension of the complete structure would then be as high 150 h^-1^ Mpc. |
