| Abstract | We present the R- and I-band photometry of the Leo I dwarf galaxy. We find a relatively narrow giant branch, implying an abundance range of no more than [Fe/H]~- 0.7 to~- 1.3. This is in contrast to the results found by Fox & Pritchet [AJ, 93, 1381(1987)] from BV CCD photometry. We estimate the distance modulus as (m - M) = 21.85+/-0.15, based on the luminosity of the tip of the red giant branch. |
